The Court of Appeal has dismissed SSHD’s appeal in Akinsanya, (https://www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/format.cgi?doc=/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/2022/37.html&query=(Akinsanya)) and held that she has to re-interpret the rules for the Zambrano carers. This is in a way good news for the people who applied previously for settled status under the EU route.

However, note that this decision does mean everyone will now be granted settled status. A lot depends on how SSHD re-frames the rules after the Court’s decision. Do not be fooled by rumours and watch out for this space later.
