Apply as person under the age of 18 years

You can only apply on the basis of your private life if you’re already living in the UK. You may be eligible under this category if you are under 18 and continuously living in the UK for 7 years. You may also be able to get the visa if you are aged over 18 and meet other criteria. Your family members can apply on the same application – you’ll be considered separately.

Apply as a person aged 18 years or above

You can apply on basis of your private life if you are aged 18 years or above and under 25 years and has spent at least half of your life living continuously in the UK. However, any period spent in imprisonment will not be counted towards your continuous residence.

You can also apply if you are aged 18 years or above and has lived continuously in the UK for less than 20 years but has no ties with your home country.

Apply as person living in the UK for more than 20 years

You can apply on basis of your private life if you have lived in the UK continuously for more than 20 years. However, any period spent in imprisonment will not be counted towards your continuous residence.
